2005 : Traveling Within: Photography Exhibit by Steve
Jansen
During my extended nomadic travels between 2002 and 2004,
the independent spirit in which I approach life led to many
unique off-the-beaten-path sites at home and abroad –
Former British colonies rite with affluence and despair,
the uninhabited nature of the Canadian Rockies, mammoth
world-class cities flexing their powerful muscles above
and below ground, Australian farms inhabited by pure hard-working
people, and visual gems contained in the back alleys of
Arizona’s biggest cities.
While immersed in these adventures, a funny thing happened.
I realized, often thousands of miles away from home, that
I was actually traveling more on the inside than the distance
required in reaching these physical locations.
The photographs contained in Traveling Within
are about the guiding force behind a soul’s amazing
journey. They represent the interconnectedness of a universal
sacred Process that I implement in my writing, photography
and life that allows the rediscovery of my true Self. These
images, in their own way, provide answers to uncomfortable
yet needed questions that we all must face during the maintenance
of a heart-centered freedom. Through all of the depicted
oddities and untouched beauty, I hope to provoke a deeper
understanding of being.
